Welcome Emily

Right after Christmas Nola decided to count the money in her piggy bank. She soon realized she had enough money to buy an American Girl doll. She scrutinized for several weeks trying to decide on just the right doll. Pouring over the catalog each night before falling asleep. I would often find her in her bed asleep with the catalog lying right next to her. She first thought she would get Elizabeth. Elizabeth is blond and looks like a princess. She never once picked a brown haired blue-eyed doll like herself. In the end she decided to get Emily. Emily has auburn hair and blue eyes. Emily has even made appearances at school, in her own uniform of course! She has been attending school now on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which are "enrichment" days. Official school days for kindergarten are Mon-wed-fri. Normally Nola would take Betty to Sunday School, but now Emily and Betty take turns, but Emily gets to go several Sundays in row so she can get used to going. The Sunday school teachers include the dolls on their attendance chart and the dolls usually get a seat at the table to color and read the Bible story. Sometimes Betty hits Emily and gets in trouble. I tried to explain to Nola that maybe Betty was feeling jealous, but she said that was not true and Betty has to have a time out! Nola has had Betty Baby since she was 18 months old, and has loved that baby like a little girl should. Emily has hair she can brush and style so this has opened up a whole new world of doll love. Both dolls sleep with Nola in her bed. It's a bit crowded, but no one has fallen out of bed yet. Now Betty Baby has a big sister and the three little girls live happily ever after.
